This laptop was released around June 2023, and there were some reviews online by August. So I've been thinking about it for a year, but still can't bring myself to buy it. It's really too expensive; the price of 14,000 is simply highway robbery.
Recently, I gave away my Steam Deck and was considering whether to get a lightweight gaming device that is portable and not too ugly to take out, something I could use to play cards on the subway or high-speed train without feeling out of place. Initially, I chose the ARM version of the Tianpai, but after much deliberation and gradually increasing my budget, I thought if I’m going to spend this much, I might as well get my dream machine.
The official introduction is here: LG gram Style 16” OLED Laptop - 16Z90RS-K.ADW8U1 | LG USA
I can't take suitable photos, so I borrowed a few images from the official website's comment section to take a look. This glare effect really looks unreal, very soft and dreamy, even more beautiful to the naked eye.

But these cannot hide its useless nature.
First, the theoretical core frequency is higher than the i7-12700H, but it compiles slower than my i7-12700H ThinkPad.
It doesn't have a dedicated GPU; that i7-1360P's garbage integrated graphics have theoretical parameters similar to the i7-12700H, but I don't know if they throttled the power consumption or what, but even running Monopoly 10 is laggy, with extremely unstable frame rates. It’s clear that the integrated graphics performance is already at 100 (3D).
The i7-1360P seems to be a low-power CPU, and LG may have imposed additional power limits on it to achieve extreme lightness while ensuring high battery life.
So what is the purpose of its 32GB of memory? With the performance of this CPU/GPU combination, I haven't found a use for that much memory.
Perhaps it was designed to reflect the saying "productivity before purchase, love after purchase." The whole machine weighs only 1.1kg, and for personal use, it has a battery life of 6 hours just watching videos, paired with an excellent screen and outstanding speakers, making it a perfect device for binge-watching. But why not use a tablet for watching shows? After giving away the Steam Deck, the tablet has taken over my ecological niche while riding the subway; Goblin Pinball is really fun.
Currently, this laptop is just a beautiful ornament; I only use it very occasionally to write documents. Perhaps it would be more suitable for pure document workers. Wait, you say it’s this expensive, why not buy a Mac for document work? It really is a beautiful piece of junk.
P.S.: After giving away the Steam Deck, I realized that the portable Windows handheld niche is really well captured by G 胖;the dual-system Deck is truly a gaming god.
